Night at the Ballet

Hey guys, how is everyone doing? Hope this week has been good. I am looooooving the sunshine which has finally decided to make an appearance! And not loving the crazy insane rain that's happening!

So my lovely friend invited me to the Ballet to see Swan Lake. And needless to say, this is one ballet that I have always wanted to see so I was incredibly appreciative that I was invited. Initially when I got the invite though I was kind of anxious because what the heck do you wear to a Ballet? I have no real idea and everyone I asked said smart casual. It's not really clear what to wear to events such as these as some people go very casual in jeans and a t-shirt. Which I wouldn't do just because it's a ballet and seems like a fancy affair xP. Especially when its at a beautiful venue like The Royal Albert Hall.

So choosing an outfit was difficult and it took me a while to think about what it was I wanted to wear (I tried on 4 different outfits!). Below is what I ended up wearing. A Superdry dress, a white blazer from Uniqlo and these shoes from Dune which I am in loooooooove with! My bag is what you can see as that big bulge on my side lol (should've taken it off) xD.

The Royal Albert Hall is a beautiful building and walking up to it you can not help but admire it. The architecture is wonderful (except you know, the big trees out front that blocks you from getting a really good picture. But yay trees xD).

Inside the hall
During the Interval we were a little naughty and decided to head to the Moet Bar for some (more!) lovely champagne. As you do when at the ballet xD. The bars inside the Royal Albert Hall are quite small and if you want to go to the Cloudy Bar especially on a performance night, it is recommended to book in advance. Luckily for us the Moet Bar had space and we were able to reserve the seats we had before the show for the interval which I really enjoyed. We came back during the interval and our drinks were ready and waiting. And because it was so hot inside it was nice to have a cool beverage and enjoy the good conversations between friends.

The ballet itself was very good and very enjoyable with the story of Swan Lake being such a classic one. The music from the orchestra was absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed it immensely. For me though there were times I found my eyes wondering and during that time I enjoyed listening to the orchestra because classical music is something I love. So if you're like me you'll still enjoy a ballet performance.

And I'm not going to lie, at first I found it a bit difficult to understand what was going on. I found myself wondering at times why there was so much dancing and no story progression. Or what part of the story the dance was actually portraying. However I started to pick out key parts of the ballet such as when Prince Siegfried meets Odette and the story (or would you call it a dance?) started to make sense.

It is always incredible to see ballet dancers at work as they are so composed, elegant in their movements and awesomely strong. The main two characters, Odette and Prince Siegfried were absolutely amazing (although I think there were numerous dancers playing these roles, they were all equally as awesome!). The best part for me was Odile and Prince Siegfried's dance. It captivated all of us in the theatre and ended with rousing applause. As well as the end piece which was beautiful and had the ending of good winning over evil. (Although sometimes would it not be nice to have evil winning out over good? xP).

I would recommend coming to a ballet as the tickets have varying price ranges and can be quite affordable. Also in a venue like the Royal Albert Hall who wouldn't want to visit?

Till next time xx

(Also off topic here but who watched the Watch Dogs 2 premiere thingy yesterday? I am sooooo excited for the new game!!!)
