Pre Birthday Theatre & Dinner
Hey guys, hope everyone is well :). As I mentioned in a previous post it’s almost my
birthday! Woooooot wooooooooot! One year older and supposedly wiser as they say (although I don't see or feel it!) XD.
To
celebrate there was a pre birthday surprise (and I was like tell me, tell me!). It turned out to be a trip to
the theatre and dinner afterwards! I had no idea what it was I was going to see until I got there. And it was...
And guys it was really, really good. It has been foooooooooorevah since I’ve
been to the theatre and this has always been one play that I have wanted to
see. It was soooo worth the wait. It always impresses me to see these
actors at work and especially when they sing because their voices are
absolutely incredible. It’s definitely worth a see (especially if your familiar with the story). So if you find yourself in London and fancy doing something a little different, give it a shot.
And after the show came dinner! It was at a place called
Shoryu and it. Is. Awesome. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE!! XD. If you’re into ramen
then I would recommend this place hands down. The restaurant itself (all
branches) have that je ne se quoi and evoke feelings of Japan as when you enter they say
“ashira-shy-ma-zay” (I’m not actually sure how it’s spelt in Japanese but this
is the only way I know how to say it! So sorry if any Japanese speakers see
this! XD). It basically means welcome. And I love that they do that
because it just adds something to the experience. The décor inside is also just
cool (I would say this of course because I love japan!).
(I love these lanterns and the lamp shade. Wish I could have them in my own house!)
Anywho I love it (in case you
missed that in the first line! XD). If your one to like your own space though, don’t
come here at busy times because you are seated basically right next to each
other. I don’t mind so much because it’s fun and a good way to meet new people.
Buuuuuut it can make for some awkward encounters; like trying to get up without like
hitting the person next to you (which I have done numerous times, whoops!).
I have tried three of the ramen (many more on offer) and
every one of them was different and delicious. Like nom, nom, nom delicious!
And what I love about this restaurant is that you’re able to share your ramen
so if you can’t eat a whole bowl (which I can barely do) you can share with
whoever you happen to be with.
And my favourite thing to get here are the Hirata Buns. THEY
ARE TO DIE FOR!!! Like scrumptious and I could eat them forever XD. There
basically steamed buns with a choice of fillings. And personally I think they
are buns of heaven.
Another favourite is the Kirin Frozen. It’s Japanese beer
that has a frozen top. On a summers day/eve when it is baking hot this is so
refreshing and cooling. And it tastes amazing. A little odd at first because
it’s cold and you can feel the little icicles in the froth (which unfortunately I don't have a pic of!).
On this night though we went with a classic bottle of sake
(and my bad for not realising it was such a big bottle!). However it was some dayum fine sake and the whole whole preparation and ceremony of drinking sake is so different and fun.
Anywho, I think I’ve gone on long enough (like seriously did not realise it was such a long post!) XD. Definitely give Shoryu a visit (they do other stuff like yakitori!), I’m sure there will be no regrets!
Xx
