Tokyo Day 9 2016 Edit

Hey guys, how are you? Hope your all doing well. So today is a ridiculously early start! Because we are up at 7am and it is a struggle. We are up because today is a tour day! Wooooooooooo! We finally booked a Mount Fuji tour on the premise that the weather is bomb and it should be a good day to do it. I booked the tour through Viator (not sponsored just thought I would mention it!) and it was really simple and easy to do. So if you do not know of any tour companies or are a bit dubious about any of them then you can use Viator. Its legitimate.

So we got picked up at our hotel at 7.30 and taken to the bus station where we boarded the actual tour bus. And we met our Tour guide, Yoko, like Yoko Ono yes. She was really welcoming and friendly and she began to give us the rundown of the history of various things in Tokyo such as the Yamanote line and the Meiji Jingu forest.

It took us a couple of hours to actually get up to Mount Fuji (the 5th Station!) but the views along the way were amazing. Going into the Japanese countryside is a definite must even if you do not go on a tour. It is so different to the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and the views are stunning. It makes you realise how mountainous and green Japan really is.

It was kind of chilly up here at 2300 meters so I was glad that I had my jumper and heat tech on. There are a few souvenir/stock up on climbing essentials shops up here and also a few restaurants as well as a Shrine, the Komitake Shrine. Which was unexpected but really beautiful. When you get up here you will see a lot of climbers wandering around. Unfortunately when we arrived Fuji-san was hiding and we did not actually get to see her which was a shame. The beautiful weather from below did not follow us up here which just means we have to come back again!

We only got about 30 minutes up here so it felt a bit rushed and we did not actually get to have a proper look at everything. But it was nice to see what we did. After this we headed to a nearby hotel near the bottom of Mount Fuji where we stopped for lunch. On this tour you can opt in for a Japanese style lunch but we decided to buy our own Bento (which we bought at Tokyo Station) and eat outside. And our bento was omg, soooooo good! After lunch we headed down to Hakone-en and Lake Ashi or Lake Ashinoko. And we got a little more time to hang out here while waiting for our 15 minute cruise. There is a shop and a few arcade games you can play while you wait. And the views were stunning.

Below you can see the boat we got onto for our 15 minute cruise. And this was so cool and the breeze felt so good in this heat. The views were amazing and it really makes me want to just take a trip to Hakone because it looks so peaceful and amazing. We got off at Hakone-en and headed to the Ropeway, Komagatake ropeway.

The best part of this tour I would say is the cruise and the ropeway. The views again are stunning and this tour just made me love Japan even more. It truly is a beautiful country. The weather held up, it was haaaawt up on the mountain but alas still no Fuji-san sighting :(. Despite the tour being a bit rushed it is definitely worth it. However if you want to take more time at each of these places or even have a sleepover I would recommend doing that. And after this we headed back into Tokyo and got dropped off at Shinjuku where we proceeded to head back to the hotel and KO. But I cannot wait to visit this place again.

Till next time xx
